Southern Ontario Dulcimer Association (SODA)

SODA is a multi instrumental group with a strong focus on the hammered dulcimer.  We are often joined by people who play the mountain dulcimer, recorder, whistle, celtic harp, guitar and other instruments.  Our  meetings are held monthly at rotating venues in Southern Ontario. New members are always welcome!

WHO?

A group of musicians who gather monthly to play a common list of tunes and to share music. You do not need to know how to play your instrument well; just come with a willingness to learn and experiment.

WHAT?

All instruments are welcome and you must enjoy playing along with Hammered Dulcimers. You must also like to play in the keys of G, D, A, C and F. Some of us play recorder, melodica, whistle, guitar, keyboard, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, bodhran, and even a Gusli. We play a variety of music including, traditional, Celtic, and contemporary. Refer to our Playlist tab for specifics.

WHERE?

We meet once a month at rotating locations throughout Southwestern Ontario; Orillia, Owen Sound, Brampton, Waterloo, Woodstock, Port Franks and any other location a member is willing to host.

WHEN?

Once a month on a Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Please bring your own lunch.)

WHY?

Why not? Great people and great music! This is an opportunity for people to experiment with various instruments in a non threatening environment.

HOW?

Use our contact page to connect with us. If you don't have a dulcimer, we have a club rental that you can use for a short time or we can assist in finding you one. Check out our tab on instruments. We can also help you with replacing strings and getting your instrument back in tune.
